Primarily through the medium of dry point printing and digital printing,
Bethany’s work explores the key features of baroque architecture – particularly located in the Mediterranean countries of Spain, France and Italy – and the characteristics which developed throughout this movement. Colours which represent the Mediterranean climate are added in strips- either digitally or through the method of ‘chine colle’- highlighting key details within the design and creating alternative focal points within the composition.
The creative process of developing the complete prints and deciding their
compositions is structured and methodical, with references to the way work was produced following set rules/guidelines in the Serial Art movement of the 1960s.
Displayed in a basic manner, the prints are left unframed, suggesting that they are a constant work in progress, referencing the early stages of architectural development and initial blueprints often found in the early stages of design.
